Problema
The containment project located in Totonicapán is a vital initiative directly benefiting the municipality and the departments of Quetzaltenango and Santa Cruz del Quiché. The Terramesh system with MacGrid WG mono-oriented geogrids was utilized to address the erosion issue along the main road connecting five communities. With a height of 48 meters, the project was necessary due to significant erosion affecting the road, posing a threat to the community.
Solución
The use of mono-oriented MacGrid WG geogrids integrated into the Terramesh system offers a superior technical solution for the containment project in Totonicapán. These geogrids provide high tensile strength in one direction, ensuring efficient and durable soil erosion control. Integration into the Terramesh system reinforces the structure, enhancing its load-bearing capacity and stability. This optimized solution ensures the safety and connectivity of the main road, effectively benefiting neighboring communities and departments.
