PETRONAS Strengthens Riverbank Protection in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia
Problem
A section of PETRONAS gas pipeline became exposed due to severe riverbank erosion, posing risks to the pipeline and environment. The client aims to resolve the issue while enhancing the river’s long-term sustainability.
Solution
The proposed solution uses double twisted Galfan Polimac Gabions and Reno Mattress Plus filled with natural stones. These permeable structures maintain natural water flow, support vegetation growth, and enhance aquatic habitats.
Gabion wall design was conducted using Macstars W4.0, a 2D software with built-in product libraries for stability checks. MacRa, a web-based design tool, was used for designing the Reno Mattress Plus.
