The 141 (Balıkesir), 142 (Çanakkale), 145 (Kütahya) Road Project in the 14th Regional Directorate of Highways, under the responsibility of Ceta İnşaat San. ve Tic. A.Ş., contained several areas with rockfall problems. From a total surface area of approximately 41,000 m² small to medium sized rocks were detaching from the slope creating safety problems on the existing road. Rock materials were loosening from the surface due to the atmospheric influence and were rolling/falling on the road. This situation negatively impacted road safety and protection measures were found neccessary. As a consequence of the above mentioned rockfall problems our technical team visited the project site and established protection design measures taking into account important site properties and previous rockfall events.
